Dr. Margath Walker
Professor of Geography and Geosciences
University of Louisville
Margath Walker, Ph.D. is a Professor of Geographic and Environmental Sciences at the University of Louisville. Her 2022 book Spatializing Marcuse: Critical Theory for Contemporary Times is with Bristol University Press. In it, she develops the spatial sensibility of the social philosopher, Herbert Marcuse, through an engagement with an array of contemporary issues including securitization, the logics of technology, geopolitics and human liberation. Dr. Walker continues to work on borders and belonging, where she uses Mexico’s two borders as a window on the links between insecurity and securitization. She is also interested in the geographies of Artificial Intelligence and the geographies of knowledge production.
